THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A MENTOR

Every person that has reached success has had mentors
‘We all carry the seeds of greatness within us, but we need an image as a point of focus in order that they may sprout’. Epictetus

A mentor – especially somebody from your same career area, degree and profession – can help guide you through whatever journey you have chosen. Your mentors (because you can have several) will also ensure you don’t take the hard way so you avoid making so many mistakes. This will help you keep focused in relation to the steps you need to take in the near future for the success you want to achieve. Good news for you is that it has never been easier to have a mentor.

Unity is strength. When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.
Mattie Stepanek

Before YouTube and Podcasts existed, you had to actively look for a person that could (hopefully) help you grow as a person, or in business. To make things even harder, after finding a potential mentor, you had to actively approach them and convince them to help you. In the end, after they had agreed, you finally had a mentor. It was not easy!
But now, you have access to e-mentors, who you can access whenever and wherever you want. There is also lots of information available that can be applied and can help you solve issues related to your particular case (regardless of where you are in your life or in business).
You now have access to podcasts, videos and all sorts of information that can help you reach that next step.

Our aim at the Innovator Diaries / Diario de Innovadores is to talk to people who have already reached success in a specific area. The people that we interview have already made mistakes, resolved problems, and had creative solutions in order to get to the next level. All these people achieved their personal goals over and over again. These are all people who have proven that regardless how tough and long the journey is, or the profession or job they decided to pursue and follow, it is possible to make it.

The podcasts and interviews we bring you are targeted messages that will inspire you and help you find the inner strength to continue with your own personal journey and path – if not help you find a solution to a specific problem.

I personally have listened to many, MANY podcasts and videos. Whenever I had a problem or issue that needed to be solved, I found solutions in podcasts where I didn’t expect it to find them.

Example one: I once had a problem related to how to engage and be able to convince clients to purchase my products. By listening to a podcast related to psychology and relationships, I suddenly understood a twist and strategy that I could use when marketing our products.

Example 2: I truly believe i have been e-mentored by lots of well-known people because I’ve read their books, heard them talk about specific topics in podcasts, seen interviews in YouTube and have attended their conferences and presentations. I know exactly what they think and what their opinions are on specific topics. It’s like I have known them because it was easy for me to access information.

Having access to these strategic and inspirational messages and information will also open you to information that you could not access before. It will show you how other people fixed and brought solutions to similar issues and problems to the ones you are having. You will be surprised how their answers can be so simple but effective. So much, that you will sometimes wonder why you haven’t thought of them before.
All you need to do is keep your eyes open and be ready to find solutions where you least expect them to be!
